Harry Birrell
Provides the inspiration for the charity. He was educated at St Andrew’s college and Rhodes university in South Africa. He later went to Lincoln college, Oxford where he gained both cricket and rugby blues in the 1950s playing alongside sporting greats such as Colin Cowdrey and MJK Smith. He returned to South Africa and spent his whole career teaching. His special gift was to inspire young people to make a success of their lives. It was in recognition of this that the Trust was so named. He died in September 2003 and a memorial service was held in Lincoln college chapel in March 2004.
